Social worker and former financial counsellor with background in community services
Katherine is passionate about advocacy and working with people with diverse and complex needs. She has been working in community services for six years, recently completing a Masters in Social Work. Previous experience in banking drew her to Financial Counselling, a role which provided the opportunity to work with people in a strength-based, person-centred way.
Growing up as a child her mother was often hospitalised due to chronic mental health issues. For the past 14 years she has been directly and indirectly advocating for her mother. As a carer and Social Worker, she has personal insights into supporting people who are socially excluded or who are experiencing problems in their lives due to mental health challenges.
Katherine is excited about the opportunities the Fellowship will provide. She hopes to use her insight and knowledge as a carer, a volunteer, and as a Social Worker to enhance social wellbeing opportunities, not only at a local level but also at a national level.
