Matt Wells
WA Rural and Remote Country Clinician

As an occupational therapist and Nurse Matt has worked in clinical and leadership roles in both hospital and community settings in country WA for the last 15 years. Working in country gives him a sense of belonging and community. As a health professional, he feels lucky to witness the rewards that patients can experience when they can stay close to their family and communities and access safe and effective health care services. In rural and remote areas, access to mental health services that are responsive, effective, sustainable and consumer focused is an ongoing significant challenge. It requires innovation, engagement and a willingness to explore. Matt hopes that his time in the Fellowship program will provide him the opportunity to learn and share from other candidates and expert supports with the goal to identify a variety of diverse evidence based and effective service delivery methods to continually improve care and access for our community.
