We are making exciting progress with some of our key projects, so this is a timely update.
Last week we held inital consultations for the National Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy covering children aged 0-12 years. Workshops across two days provided a unique opportunity to draw on the expertise of parents, clinicians, child rights advocates and academics to identify the various issues and solutions that can be used in the development of the Strategy.
This week we are bringing together experts from academia, governments and research funding bodies, along with mental health consumers and carers, for a collaborative two-day workshop to inform the development of the National Mental Health Research Strategy.
We also have current engagement opportunities, including applications into our Australian Mental Health Leaders Fellowship which close this Friday 6th March, and our National Peer Workforce Survey closing at the end of March. This month, in the wider mental health sector, Functional Neurological Disorder awareness day is approaching and Borderline Personality Disorder training is being delivered across Australia.
You all come with unique experiences and knowledge, so I encourage you to get involved and contribute in any way you can.
Lifeline Bushfire Recovery Line
Lifeline have launched a dedicated Bushfire Recovery Line, 13 HELP (13 43 57) to provide support for people affected by the bushfires. This is a national phoneline service available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The recovery line will deliver timely emotional and practical support, as well as information about services available within local communities.
Workshop: Borderline Personality Disorder
The Australian BPD Foundation, in partnership with Spectrum Personality Disorder Service, and with support from the Commission, are delivering a two-day Borderline Personality Disorder Workshops for clinicians and service providers across Australia starting in March.
The workshops are fully funded and by expression of interest.
Spotlight Report: Functional Neurological Disorder
It is FND Awareness Day on 25th March. This year, Australia has partnered with the UK to spread awareness about Functional Neurological Disorder, calling on individuals to share their experiences online using #Voices4FND.
Last year we released a spotlight report on the experiences of people living with Functional Neurological Disorder and their carers in Australia. The research for this report was undertaken by FND Australia Support Services Inc.
Safer Internet Day is everyday
Safer Internet Day was on 11th February, sparking global conversation about how we can work together to create a better internet. Given the fast-paced digital world we live in, online safety plays a key role in our overall wellbeing, so this is an important conversation to have every day.
eSaftey have put together tips on how to start the chat about online safety in your home, workplace, school and community.
