Since the launch of our Connections project on 1 July, we’ve held Town Hall meetings in 11 communities across Australia. We'll visit 26 altogether. We are also inviting feedback via our new online survey.
Following each Town Hall meeting, the Commission is publishing a community snapshot of what we heard which can be accessed on the Connections page.
On 3 July, we held our Commission meeting on Thursday Island. We held stakeholder meetings during the day and welcomed the community to our first Connections Town Hall meeting in the evening. Commissioners welcomed engagement and discussion on what is working and what is not working in mental health and suicide prevention in the Thursday Island region.
We've held our first Peer Workforce Development Guidelines Steering Committee meeting.

Connections online survey
We've launched an online survey for the Connections project. Everyone is welcome to participate in the survey and we encourage you to share the survey link with anyone who is interested.
Anyone with a living experience of mental health; consumers, carers, families and those organisations which provide support and care, are invited to share their stories and their experiences in relation to mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing through our online consultation.
Take the Connections online survey to contribute to the 2030 Vision for mental health and suicide prevention in Australia.
Don’t forget to join the conversation online and follow us on Facebook and Twitter and using the #ConnectingWithYou.
Take the survey and have your say.
We look forward to connecting with you.
National Peer Workforce Development Guidelines
Under the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan (Fifth Plan), the Commission is leading the development of Peer Workforce Development Guidelines.
This project will help support the peer workforce through providing guidance for governments, employers and the peer workforce about support structures required to sustain and grow the workforce.
The Steering Committee for the Peer Workforce Development Guidelines have released their first communique (92KB).
Australian Mental Health Leaders
Last week on 29 July we welcomed the third cohort of 20 new participants to our Australian Mental Health Leaders program.
