The Commission regularly holds open community and stakeholder forums as it visits states and territories around Australia. If you have a lived experience of mental health issues, are a family member, friend, or support person for someone with a mental health difficulty, or you work in the mental health sector or a related field and would like to attend a future event, please subscribe to our mailing list on our website and be sure to list your home state. This mailing list will also keep you updated on all our news and activities.
Our new website is now LIVE!
Have a look at www.mentalhealthcommission.gov.au (the address hasn’t changed). We hope the site is easier to navigate and provides you with useful information about the Commission and our work.
Some of the features of the new site include:

Jobs at the Commission
We have now advertised a number of jobs in our small Sydney-based team at the Commission on APSJobs. They will also be advertised on SEEK within the coming days. They range from policy, research and project roles to positions providing corporate, administrative, secretariat and communications support (from the Executive Level 2 to APS 4 levels).

We are in Adelaide (3-4 October)
The fifth meeting of the National Mental Health Commission will take place this week in Adelaide.
As well as a formal Commission meeting, Commissioners will meet with and listen to people with a lived experience of mental health issues, their families and other support people , visit services and talk to service providers, government representatives and leaders in the local mental health sector.
The draft meeting Minutes and a communique will be available, as is our usual practice, on our website within seven working days of the meeting.
The Commission’s CEO, Robyn Kruk, will be dropping in to the 2nd National Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Day Conference on the morning of Friday 5 October.
World Mental Health Week: get involved and find an event
World Mental Health Day (WMHD) – 10 October – is a day for mental health education, awareness and advocacy around the world. In Australia, WMHD coincides with National Mental Health Week (7 – 13 October).
The Mental Health Council of Australia’s theme for 2012 is “Whoever you are and wherever you live, you’re not alone”. The Commission was pleased to support the development of a new national events map launched by the MHCA. You can register your event and search for what’s happening in your local area using the map.
The Commission’s collaboration with the MHCA will also result in us co-hosting the first meeting of the Council of Non-Government Organisations (CONGO) on Mental Health in Canberra on 9 October. The Commission is keen to help foster collaboration and to hear first-hand from a number of community organisations working in a range of sectors. A report of the day will be available on the Commission and the MHCA’s websites after the event.
